history

The South Australian National Football League Umpires Association Inc (SANFLUA) is a not-for-profit organisation that was formed in 1947 to unite all disciplines of Umpires of the South Australian National Football League and their affiliated leagues.

The primary role of SANFLUA is to assist with the requirements of umpires officiating at South Australian National Football League and the Australian Football League. This was most evident during the 1990 season when the Association stepped in to support its members to ensure the future of umpiring was a safe, respected and vibrant environment and activity to be involved with.

The SANFLUA also organises social functions to create a positive environment for all those involved in this challenging profession. Over the years, the SANFLUA has also supported many charities including the successful ‚Blind Leading the Blind‚ campaign during the mid-1990's supporting the Blind Sporting Council.

Membership is not restricted to current running SANFL Umpires. At present, there are more than 340 members including life members, running umpires, associate members, trainers and coaches.
